Limited four CD edition. Super deluxe 30th Anniversary edition includes digitally remastered edition of the album, a live recording of The Joshua Tree Tour 1987 Madison Square Garden concert, outtakes and B-sides from the album's original recording sessions; as well as 2017 remixes from Daniel Lanois, St Francis Hotel, Jacknife Lee, Steve Lillywhite and Flood. Also includes an 84-page hardback book of unseen personal photography shot by The Edge during the original Mojave Desert photo session in 1986. Released to universal acclaim on 9th March 1987 and featuring hit singles "With Or Without You", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Where The Streets Have No Name", The Joshua Tree went to #1 in the U.K, U.S., Ireland and around the world, selling in excess of 25 million albums, and catapulting Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr "... from heroes to superstars" (Rolling Stone). Time Magazine put U2 on it's cover in April 1987, proclaiming them "Rock's Hottest Ticket" and the 12 months that followed saw U2 create iconic moments including the traffic-stopping Grammy Award-winning "Where The Streets Have No Name" video on the roof of a Los Angeles liquor store, and go on to win a BRIT Award and two Grammys - including Album of the Year - their first of 22 received to date; as well as a triumphant return home for four unforgettable shows in Belfast, Dublin and Cork in the summer of 1987.

While as a product I rate this set 5 stars because it is a fantastic product. It certainly lacks a few elements of a perfect box set (as I also got the Temple of the Dog box set which is perfect!). The size of this set is huge, the same size as if it would have vinyl in it and the reason for that is because of the photography book which is included. So this set have two distinct categories of features, the cd's and the accompanying artwork. The artwork is great and looking at the photograph's while listing to the album is a great way to experience it.

Disc 1 contains the remastered 'The Joshua Tree' album. Disc 2 contains a live concert at Madison square garden which is a great show that they played truly encompassing this era of the band. Disc 3 is just 6 tracks of remixes of some of the songs on the album. Also it seems like a useless disc, the remixes do show some of the songs in a unique way and are worth an occasional listen (while flipping through the Edge's photobook). Disc 4 is all the unreleased songs and B-sides from this era encompassing 15 tracks. Many are somewhat rough tracks but all in all this disc is an essential listen to a fan of the band and this era.

What this box set could have used (as any box set really needs) is a DVD that represents the era, that could have shown music videos, interviews and for the best set: live concert footage from 'The Joshua Tree Tour'. Nevertheless this is still a great set and ranks amongst some of the best box sets available.
